Spell Check For Wordpad

  1. Spell Check In Notepad

  3. Spell Check

One way to spell check a WordPad document is to copy text from the document and paste it into a program that checks for spelling errors. Do that quickly by clicking anywhere inside the document. Tap or click 'Settings,' then 'More PC Settings.' Select the 'General' tab, then toggle the on/off switches to enable or disable 'Autocorrect Misspelled Words' or 'Highlight Misspelled Words.' As you type misspelled words in either NotePad or WordPad, your system will now highlight or autocorrect them.

Hi Barb, I wonder how many people realize that if you are running JAWS, they have a pretty nifty little editor under utilities called HJ Pad. It can do basic formatting and it does have a spell checker. JAWS is no longer my primary screen reader. I have JAWS 16 home edition on my system which doesn't have quite as many features, but it does still have HJ Pad.

If you are a JAWS user, give it a try. On 1/12/2016 2:41 PM, Barb O'Connor wrote: I thought there was a way to check spelling if I used Wordpad. I can'tseem to find it.

I could swear that I found it before. Help, please. Thanks, in advance. Program Description Occasionally you need to check the spelling of words in an application that does not include a spelling checker and you don't want to launch your word processor just for that. This is when tinySpell becomes handy.

It is a small utility that allows you to easily and quickly check the spelling of words in any application. TinySpell can watch your typing on the fly and alert you whenever it detects a misspelled word. It can also check the spelling of text you copy to the clipboard. After invoking tinySpell, it installs itself in the system tray for easy access (you’ll see a small icon in the tray). Normally the icon is white but it turns to yellow when a misspelled word is detected. Clicking the yellow tinySpell icon, or pressing the hot-key, pops up a list of suggested replacement words from which you can select a correction. You can set tinySpell to insert the selected word into your document or copy it to the clipboard (or both).

TinySpell comes with an American-English dictionary containing more than 110,000 words. TinySpell has two variants: tinySpell (this version) which is totally free, and tinySpell+ which is almost free and has more features. Installation In the zip file you can find the installer: tispXXXX.exe (where XXXX is the revision number).

Run it, follow the instructions on the screen and click Next until the installation is complete. If you have a previous version of tinySpell installed and you don't want to lose the words you added to its dictionary, you can either install the new version over it or make a copy of the file custom.dct and put it in the tinySpell directory after installation.

To start tinySpell: click Start, select All Programs-tinySpell, and click tinySpell. You may uninstall tinySpell by clicking the item Uninstall tinySpell in Start-All Programs-tinySpell or by using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Hi Carolyn, Press your start menu / Windows key & in the search edit field type, HJ, & Run HJ Pad should pop up so, press enter to open HJ Pad.

The long way to access Run HJPad is: 1. Press the start menu / Windows key, navigate to All programs, & open it. Navigate to the version of Jaws you're using. I say the version you're using in case you have more than 1 version of Jaws installed. Right arrow to open, arrow up / down to, Run HJPad, & press enter to open. If you plan on using this program on a regular basis you might want to put a shortcut on the desktop.

Steps for doing so: 1. Using the steps above to access HJPad do not press enter on HJPad but, only highlight / have your focus on it. Press the applications key or shift + F10 to open the context menu. Arrow Down to the, Send To, option & press enter. Arrow down to, Desktop Create Shortcut, & press enter. You should now have a shortcut for Run HJPad on your desktop.

TinySpell is a free tool that checks spelling in any program. Accessing the program is as simple as right-clicking on its icon in your computer's Quick Launch tray. It displays a tiny window, making it easy to use alongside other programs. TinySpell will alert you if you misspell a word, or you can type a word directly in its window to check your spelling. Most computer programs have spell check built-in, but in some programs the spell check is cumbersome to use or not easily accessed. TinySpell can bridge that gap.

We thought it was quite handy to have the small TinySpell window running within easy sight and grasp. It can check passages of text copied and pasted onto new clipboards, which is another good feature. You can add words to its dictionary and you can set the program to beep whenever you misspell or mistype a word. TinySpell caught all of our spelling errors, and with most words, a window popped up with suggestions for the correct spelling. Only when we misspelled a word thoroughly was the program unable to provide us with an alternative. TinySpell has a Help file that includes information about hot keys and how to use and configure the program. The program's Web site also has instructions for using the program.

The program's default language is American English, but dictionaries in other languages are available for download on its Web site. We had no difficulty installing the application, but when uninstalling it, a 212KB folder was left in our program files. We weren't bothered by this-TinySpell is a program worth keeping.
