Back in the late 90’s, down south rap was primarily concentrated in Atlanta, but there was a more menacing, darker side to southern fried rap that a lot of mainstream rap listeners didn't knew existed. The darker side was based in Memphis, and the group that was promoting the terror was. In their early days – from 1994 to 2003 – the Memphis outfit was known more for their horrorcore sound, which promoted sex, drugs, money and murder to no end. It was this side of down south rap that was harder, scarier, and darker than anything coming out of Atlanta. One of and scariest creations was, which primarily featured Paul and Juciy paired up with the late that created tracks that today would not even make it into a program director’s inbox. If you thought Three Six Mafia’s lyrics and sound was scary, you have not listened to anything yet until you've listened to Tear Da Club up Thug’s, which goes in full throttle on the horrorcore sound that brought Paul and Juicy notoriety. If you’re not use to horrorcore rap, the album’s opener, “Dalazdayz,” will scare the bejesus out of you, and that track is just a preview for what was to come.

Every track on CrazyNDaLazDays follows the same lyrical routine; sex, drugs, “wetting somebody up,” (listen to the track 'Wet Party,' and you will know what 'wetting somebody up' is) and money, and sometimes, all four in the same track. Compared to anything released today, CrazyNDaLazDays has to be the most hardest and scariest down south rap album ever to see the light of day, but despite the horrifying lyrics, there were some standouts here. “Big Business” had a nice slowed-down tempo to it, and Lord Infamous was at his best here. Another banger was “Who Da Crunkest,” featuring longtime Hypnotize Minds stablemate.
Pat always brings the hood to everything he’s on, and his sound and lyrics match the rest of the group perfectly.“Who Da Crunkest” could hype up the dead, and if the track doesn't get you hyped up, then nothing will. “Slob on My Knob,” which was released as a single, had a slow, dark beat to it that matched the misogynist lyrics.
Yes, there was a ton of filler on CrazyNDaLazDays, but the aforementioned tracks, and a couple others, most notably 'Get Buck, Get Wild,' will lift you past the filler. CrazyNDaLazDays is not meant for young listeners. In fact, anyone under 13 should stay far away from this record, and the same goes for moral advocates. But for those who are curious what Three Six Mafia sounded like in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, this album provides a nice history lesson.
But due to the horrifying subject matter, this album is not recommended for casual rap listeners, and is only recommended for Three Six Mafia fans.
